Kathmandu – Leading global technology brand Xiaomi has launched its new budget smartphone, REDMI A7, but questions are already being raised over whether the device offers enough value for its price.
Priced at NPR 10,999, the REDMI A7 comes with only 3GB RAM and 64GB storage, specifications many consumers may consider outdated in today’s competitive smartphone market. The phone also supports only 15W fast charging, which may feel slow compared to rival devices offering faster charging speeds in the same price range.
Although Xiaomi highlights the phone’s large 6.88-inch display and 120Hz refresh rate, the use of an LCD panel instead of AMOLED may disappoint users looking for richer colors and better viewing quality. Critics may also argue that the 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera are basic by current standards.
Despite being marketed as sleek and premium-looking, the REDMI A7’s plastic build and entry-level hardware could leave buyers unimpressed. Tech observers say that features like 120Hz refresh rate may not deliver a noticeably smooth experience due to the limited RAM and lower-end processor.
With several competing smartphones in the market offering more RAM, better cameras, and faster charging at a similar price, the REDMI A7 could face a tough challenge in attracting buyers.
