Kathmandu, Nepal — Infinix has launched its GT 50 Pro gaming smartphone in Nepal with a price tag of NPR 64,999, promoting it as a high-performance device for gamers and power users. However, the phone’s pricing and advertised “0% EMI” scheme could raise questions among price-conscious Nepali consumers.

The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is being offered at NPR 64,999. Infinix has highlighted a monthly EMI starting at NPR 4,250, presenting the offer as an affordable way for consumers to purchase the device.

However, the financing structure shows that customers are required to make a down payment of NPR 50,999, while only NPR 24,000 is listed as the finance amount.

This means the headline figure of NPR 4,250 per month does not tell the entire story. Consumers still need to arrange more than NPR 450,000 upfront before accessing the advertised installment plan.

‘0% EMI’ but a Heavy Upfront Payment

The EMI offer may appear attractive at first glance, but the substantial down payment could make the scheme less accessible for many consumers.

While Infinix promotes the offer under the slogan of making “big phones, small payments,” the requirement to pay NPR 45,999 upfront could undermine the perception of affordability, particularly for customers with limited disposable income.

Consumers may therefore need to carefully examine the total repayment amount, financing period, service or administrative charges and other applicable terms before opting for the EMI facility.

Premium Price for Gaming Features

Infinix is positioning the GT 50 Pro as a dedicated gaming smartphone, highlighting features such as HydroFlow Liquid Cooling, a 144FPS Gaming Ecosystem, Pressure-Sense GT Triggers, Dolby Atmos and an N1 Network Chip.

While these features may appeal to gaming enthusiasts, the NPR 84,999 price tag places the device in a relatively expensive segment of Nepal’s smartphone market.

The key question for consumers is whether the gaming-focused features justify the premium price, particularly when many users may primarily use their smartphones for social media, photography, communication, streaming and everyday tasks.

Marketing Versus Real Affordability

The launch highlights advanced specifications and gaming technologies, but affordability ultimately depends on the actual amount consumers must pay upfront and over the financing period.

The contrast between a NPR 64,999 retail price, NPR 45,999 down payment and “starting from NPR 4,250” monthly EMI could lead consumers to look beyond the promotional headline and examine the complete financial commitment.

For serious mobile gamers, the GT 50 Pro may offer an attractive package of performance-oriented features. However, for ordinary smartphone buyers, its price and financing structure could make it a difficult purchase to justify.

As the device enters Nepal’s competitive smartphone market, its real test will be whether consumers consider its gaming features and performance sufficient to justify the relatively high price.
