Winners of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero India & Glocal Teen Hero Srilanka announced today

Ms. Radhika Gupta, 16 years old Educationist from Lucknow has been awarded the title of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero India 2021. Likewise, the winner of the second iteration of Glocal Teen Hero Srilanka is 18 years old Social Entrepreneur, Mr. Sachintha Chamaranga Abeyrathne. Glocal aims to take this opportunity in all the South Asian Countries to celebrate teenagers accomplishment & contribution for the betterment of the society & the country.

Glocal Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with CYDA (the India Partner) announced the winner of the third edition of Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero India 2021 amidst the awarding ceremony at The O Hotel, North Main Road, Koregaon Park, Pune today. Likewise, the winner of Glocal Teen Hero Srilanka was also announced in the same venue.

Ms. Radhika Gupta is a passionate and empathetic person who believes in providing quality education and experiential learning to the underprivileged children. She is featured by Hindustan Times about her life journey and decisions, interviewed by Radio FM about her journey as a self-directed learner. She is also a YouTuber and owns a channel named “An & Ra” and creates different meaningful content for teenagers. Likewise, she hosts interviews with various teenagers and features their inspirational stories on her YouTube channel.

Likewise, the winner from Srilanka, Mr. Sachintha Chamaranga Abeyrathne is the founder at a non-profit organization E-Learning Portal LK which started during lockdown period with the aim to facilitate students in rural areas who are underprivileged to get free and quality education. He works as a volunteer at The First Step (Social Media Evangelist, Content Creator), HOPE – for a better world (Web Developer, Graphic Designer). The volunteer project that he started was able to facilitate 1500+ students island-wide during the first phase of the free online seminar series.

He is continuing the special webinar series in the year 2021 with the theme based on “Skill Based Education Development”. The aim is to provide Sri Lankan students a better idea about the various career opportunities, which fit the industry revolution 4.0. He aspire to be a cyber-security specialist and a successful entrepreneur in the future and change society for the betterment.

This year’s competition received 173 applications, from fascinating teenagers of India demonstrating the diverse potential of their initiation, skills, and expertise, and made an impact in their society. Likewise, there were 125 amazing applications from the teenagers of Srilanka. Out of total applications for Glocal Teen Hero, the selection was based on their resume, the evidence, and an essay on their accomplishment.

With the aim to initiate Glocal Teen Hero all over South Asia, Glocal has moved this opportunity to South Asian Teenagers for their encouragement and development. India is the first country to host the Glocal Teen Hero franchise & Srilanka is the second country.

Glocal Teen Hero is the platform for teenagers to identify and honor outstanding teenagers whose creativity, commitment, experience, and strong leadership have helped them achieve success in an increasingly challenging environment. This award recognizes and honors the exceptional teen whose work is sustainable and who can think out of the box addressing the issues and creating an impact in society. Fostering a collaborative community among recipients and strengthening national recognition of today’s young leaders is a primary goal of the Glocal Teen Hero Award.
