Kathmandu,  Even after completing the allocation of all available stalls for the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has indicated that it may still consider requests from brands that failed to register within the stipulated deadline, raising questions over the finality and fairness of the allocation process.

NAIMA announced that 49 stalls have been allocated to 49 brands through what it described as a predetermined and transparent lottery system. However, the association acknowledged that it continues to receive participation requests even after the registration deadline and said it would explore available options to accommodate such requests, with priority being given to member companies.

The statement has prompted concerns among industry observers over whether post-deadline adjustments could undermine the credibility of the process and create unequal opportunities for brands that complied with the original timeline.

Of the total stalls, 26 were allocated to four-wheeler brands, while the remaining 23 were distributed among two-wheeler and commercial vehicle companies. The exhibition is scheduled to take place at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu from August 11 to 16, 2026.

NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya said the overwhelming response from the automobile industry reflected growing confidence in the exhibition and reiterated the association’s vision of promoting modern and sustainable mobility in Nepal. However, critics argue that accommodating late entrants after declaring the allocation process complete could expose organizers to allegations of favoritism and inconsistency.

NAIMA Mobility Expo Planning Committee Chair Gaurav Sharda said the participation of 49 brands demonstrates strong industry support and confidence in the event. Executive Director Raj Kumar Dulal maintained that the allocation process had been conducted in a transparent, fair and predetermined manner.

Despite claims of transparency, questions remain over how additional brands, if accepted, would be accommodated and whether the move could affect the integrity of the original allocation process.

The NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026 is being promoted as Nepal’s largest mobility exhibition and will feature the latest developments in vehicles, technology and mobility solutions.
