Kathmandu – At a time when Nepal’s economy is under pressure and consumers are struggling with rising living costs, Paramount Motors has launched the all-new MGS6 EV Trophy Long Range at a hefty introductory price of Rs. 59,99,000, sparking criticism over affordability and practicality.
Marketed under the slogan “Find Your MORE,” critics argue that the vehicle instead asks customers to “spend more” in an already challenging economic environment. While the company highlights premium features, advanced EV technology, and luxury performance, many believe the price places the SUV far beyond the reach of ordinary Nepali consumers.
The company claims the MGS6 EV offers a WLTP-certified range of 530 km, a powerful 180 kW motor, and advanced connectivity features. However, concerns remain about whether Nepal’s charging infrastructure, road conditions, and after-sales service network are truly prepared to support such high-end electric vehicles.
Although MG has announced an extended battery warranty of up to 11 or 15 years, questions persist regarding maintenance costs, spare parts availability, and the long-term reliability of premium EVs in the Nepali market.
Critics say Nepal’s EV market is increasingly becoming a platform for expensive luxury launches rather than focusing on affordable and practical electric mobility solutions for the wider population.
